It was a long, strange trip for the Houston Oilers from the venerable Astrodome to their new home in the Volunteer State. While their new stadium was being built in downtown Nashville, the Tennessee Oilers played their 1997 home games in Memphis, which was a three-hour drive from Music City. In 1998, the Oilers played their home games at Vanderbilt Stadium, the last a chilly battle the day after Christmas against the Minnesota Vikings and rookie sensation Randy Moss. Minnesota won to cap a 15-1 season, dropping the soon-to-be Titans to 8-8 before moving into their new digs.
