The ACC Tournament returned to its North Carolina roots in Greensboro in 1984 but it was Lefty Driesell and his Maryland Terrapins that stole the show. Lefty had been winless in five previous trips to the ACC title game but the Terps defeated Duke 74-62 behind an MVP performance by Len Bias. The Blue Devils had upset top-seeded North Carolina in the semifinals after the Tar Heels (and Michael Jordan) had run through the conference regular season undefeated at 14-0.
