Coming off their first Super Bowl triumph in nearly three decades, the Packers nearly repeated the feat in 1997. Green Bay raced to a 13-3 record and defeated Tampa Bay and San Francisco en route to Super Bowl XXXII in San Diego. But the Packers were upset by the Denver Broncos 31-24, ending the NFC’s run of 13 consecutive Super Bowl wins.

Quarterback Brett Favre had another stellar season, throwing 35 touchdown passes and earning league co-MVP honors with Lions running back Barry Sanders. Favre would play another 13 seasons but never reach another Super Bowl.
