John Elway and the Denver Broncos were seeking their first Super Bowl win and not many pundits gave them a chance against Brett Favre and the defending champion Packers in Super Bowl XXXII. But behind the stellar running of Terrell Davis, Denver wore down Green Bay in the second half and emerged with a stunning, 31-24 win in San Diego. The Broncos not only earned their first championship but also ended the NFC’s 13-year run as Super Bowl winners.

Denver defended its title the following season and Elway retired. The Packers wouldn’t return to the Super Bowl until the 2010 season, which was Favre’s final season in the league. But by that time he was playing for the Vikings.

The Super Bowl program cover shown above was signed by Green Bay’s 22 starters from that 1997 season.
