LSU honored Tigers legend Shaquille O’Neal in 2000, retiring his No. 33 jersey and inducting him into the LSU Hall of Fame. Shaq played for the Tigers from 1989-92 before the Orlando Magic selected him with the top overall pick in the NBA Draft.

Shaq dominated in Baton Rouge, twice earning SEC Player of the Year and first-team All-America honors. He was voted AP National Player of the Year in 1991. Over three seasons Shaq averaged 21.6 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game.
