The NFL returned to Baltimore for the first time in 13 seasons as the relocated Cleveland Browns debuted as the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens, like the Baltimore Colts, played their first season at old Memorial Stadium while their new downtown stadium was being constructed. Another tie to the Colts was Ravens head coach Ted Marchibroda, who had coached Baltimore’s previous franchise from 1975-79.

The Ravens finished with a 4-12 record but were building a solid foundation. Their first two draft picks in 1996? Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis.
